2021 Cairns to Karumba Ride (Stephen Tregoweth)

In late June, a mate and I are riding in the Annual Cairns to Karumba Bike Ride which is a 780km 7 day ride that has raised over $1,140,000 during the past 21 years. These funds are used for Cairns School of Distance Education and local primary schools, child care centres and sports associations across Cape York.  Also the Royal Flying Doctor Service, Burns Unit at the Royal Children’s Hospital and Children’s Services at the Cairns Base Hospital.

Cairns to Karumba Bike Ride (Kassie Sullivan)

780km and over 400m ascent in 7 days, from Cairns to Karumba, on road bikes. Riding up the Kuranda range, past Mareeba and Herberton, Ravenshoe, Mr Garnet, Mt Surprising, via the Newcastle Range to Georgetown, to Croydon via Gilbert River and vast savannah landscapes, racing against the Gulflander train into Normanton, before arriving in Karumba. I know you wish you were doing it too 🙂

We are a Sydney team Martin du Plessis, Andre Botes, Conrad Groenewald, Kevin Radford, and Steve Ellis – MACKS, that believe that sport, being active, and supporting charitable community efforts, makes for great mental health and well being.  Your support, is highly appreciated and goes towards making distance education easier for the next generation.
