Fundraising for the schools, sporting associations and distance education students along the 780km route

4th time doing this epic ride to raise much needed funds for the outback schools, sporting associations and distance education students who learn remotely through the Cairns School of Distance Education.  Every km I pedal will go towards supporting this great cause.  Good time catching up with old friends, making new ones and supporting local businesses along the way.

CAIRNS to KARUMBA by bike – or BUST!!

I hope Mohammed Ali was right when he said ‘Nothing is impossible’ because the annual Cairns to Karumba bike ride (June 22 – 28) will be a personal challenge of truly tough proportions demanding an average of 110kms plus per day across the hot, dry and glorious Savannah of FNQ.

I’m excited and determined to enjoy the heck out of this adventure, and am training with gusto to ensure I reach the finish post full of beans.

But there’s a far more meaningful reason for taking on this challenge!

The ride aims to raise much needed funds to help address the significant challenges experienced by children living in remote communities, by providing them with opportunities to achieve greater educational outcomes.

If you are able, and care about this important cause, I’d hugely appreciate you cheering me on to the finish line by donating ANY amount possible for you. Donations need to be received by June 12.

In June, I’ll be riding 780 km across Cape York to raise funds for remote education in Far North Queensland. The ride goes from Cairns to Karumba, with the aim of supporting students in the remote communities we pass through on the way. All funds raised go towards connecting students in Far North Queensland with educational opportunities they would otherwise miss out on by living in remote areas. I’ll be doing the ride with some of my family who live and work in Cairns, and have been supporting the C2K ride and charity for 15 years.

In June this year I’m riding from Cairns to Kurumba, 780km in 7 days.  To date the event has raised and distributed in excess of $1,140,000. Beneficiaries include: Cairns School of Distance Education, Primary Schools – Mt Garnet, Mt Surprise, Georgetown, Croydon, Normanton and Karumba as well as child care centres, sports associations and more.  I’m passionate about providing children in rural and remote areas with the resources required to achieve their best possible educational and social outcomes.  Please help by donating, every $ is appreciated. 🙂

A week on the bike riding 780 km over 7 days across starting from Cairns, onto Queensland’s highest road and then through some great Gulf communities before finishing in the Gulf of Carpentaria. The aim is to raise money for schools and kids to give them the same opportunities they miss out on by living in remote communities. Help support me in my 15th time across the base of Cape Yorke as I go from Cairns to Karumba.

Richie rides to Karumba

Ok thrill-seekers, it’s on again. $2 buys you a share in our fund raising journey to Karumba. Along the way you’ll get regular updates on just how badly I ride up hills and interact with fellow cyclists. Importantly, your $2 will go towards supporting bush kids in remote communities. As an added bonus, every donor goes into the draw to win a tug a war competition with Olaf – image attached.
