C2K Fundraising 2021- Annie Gawn

As a support person, i will be assisting a dear friend who will do a 780km bike ride from Cairns to Karumba, to help transport gears, tools & equipment, setting up camp sites and generally just making sure to fulfil my role for the benefit of the riders to make it successful on a daily basis for 7 days.

C2K fundraising is to benefit FNQ Distant Education, primary schools, child care centres and more.  Like with Covid experience, we parents had to isolate and teach our kids and during those times there has been problems with parents not coping.  These circumstances are constantly experienced to students accessing Remote and Distant Education in FNQ.   Children who go to boarding school have difficulty coping so they go home choosing DE as the only option.  Parents feel inadequate to provide the support and supervision and some assistance from schools are invaluable.  Please help me raise funds, small amounts counts to achieving our goals of helping the students, parents and the community. Your help means a lot for me as well as a first timers raising funds for a good cause.  Thank you dearest.

Lending a helping hand – Stan Andrews

As I child growing up on a property  in the 1970’s to the mid 1980’s, from Northern Territory to Queensland, I did school of the air. Or distance education as it is known today. Getting an education was hard. We only had VHF radios or good old Australia post , or telegram. Mail was slow and sometimes things got lost, and even so in the wet season. If we were sent to boarding school we would be so far away from our family that a letter or telegram was our only form off communication and that seamed to take for ever. I’m doing this ride to help these kids get the education they need to better them selfs. Even throw we are supposed to have a great telecommunication system in this country is seams to stop and become patchy the further you go from the cities. These kids are part off this counties future, so the more we can give them the better they will become. They need better internet services, better phone services, let’s face it the outback is what this country was built on before mining took off.  So please help as it is very much appreciated. Thanks for your support.

Power Balls 4 Outback Kids – Lynne Prentice

In June 2021 I will be riding my Mountain Bike on some remote tracks that will take me from Cairns in Queensland to Karumba on the Gulf of Carpentaria. I am raising money for the Cairns school of Distance Education and the Primary Schools along the way at Mt Garnet, Mt Surprise, Georgetown, Croydon, Normanton and Karumba.

My husband John has agreed to support me each day on the ride. Dear friends I would really value your support and sponsorship for the training needed and fundraising opportunity of this ride. Thank you.
